Brown Bread Vimeo and Showreel

We have set up a Brown Bread Vimeo page which at the moment holds our showreel.

BROWN BREAD FILMS SHOWREEL 2010 from BROWN BREAD FILMS on Vimeo.

Our showreel has been developed as a quarterly updatable product that will keep our clients interested and show our work ethic and enthusiasm.

THE FALLEN TRAPEZE

Our most resent project was a short film called The Fallen Trapeze. It was an incredible project to work on, the actors, art direction and locations were priceless. The shoot was over 6 full days working from 9AM untill around 3AM, but it was worth it. As a collective we all learnt so much through this shoot, how hard you have to work, how much time you have to put into what you love and how to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for all cast and crew. Another interesting production that shows our professionalism in the industry.

Screen Yorkshire Meeting

As well as setting up meetings with Business link Yorkshire we need to talk to Tony Dixon and Nicky Ball down as Screen Yorkshire as recomended by Anthony Bagley. We will have our showreel to take down with us so they can get an essence of what we are about. Hopefully they will be able to point us in the right direction in order to build contacts and client databases.

Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway Promotional Video

Travel between Embsay station, built in 1888, and the new award-winning station at Bolton Abbey. Your journey takes you through picturesque Yorkshire Dales scenery. Bolton Abbey station is the ideal stopping off point for a pleasant one and a half mile walk to the ruins of the 12th Century priory.

We have been asked to produce a promotional video for Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway in return for the use of their station in our short film.

We feel that it is an excellent opportunity to further develop our skills in corporate work and will be a great way of getting our name 'Brown Bread' out into the corporate world as multiple people will view the video.

BROWN BREAD WEBSITE.

This is our holding site for Brown Bread Films. We really like that its simple and strait forward, as a holding page it is showcasing our summer 2010 showreel. It also has an email we have set up for people to contact us. brownbreadfilms@hotmail.com is just a temporary address as and when the website is fully launched it will change to info@brownbreadfilms.com.

Graduates Yorkshire is the leading graduate recruitment service in Yorkshire. We are the only website dedicated to matching employers in the region with the best graduate talent around. Working in partnership with the region's 10 University Careers Services, we offer a range of recruitment related services to provide all the information and support that graduates and employers need to find each other.

As well as providing all the benefits of an online jobsite, we also work closely with careers services within our partner Universities to help improve the services on offer to students and graduates in the region. As a social enterprise, any profit we make is reinvested back into the careers services in our partner Universities to help ensure more and more graduates leave Yorkshire's Universities work-ready.

Yorkshire and Humber has more Higher Education Institutions than any other area outside of Greater London and a high number of students from across the UK are attracted here every year. 40,000 graduates are produced from the region's Universities each year and by retaining these graduates in Yorkshire we can help the region's economy grow.

As a company we pride ourselves on our commitment to excellence in the services we offer, always striving to make them straightforward, relevant and useful to our users. Relationships are important in the way Graduates Yorkshire operates and we work hard to maintain our links with students and graduates, local recruiters and our partnership universities as we constantly strive to develop our services to be more relevant to the needs of our users.

Graduate retention is the basis on which Graduates Yorkshire is built and is at the heart of everything we do. By helping to put graduates on the career ladder right here in Yorkshire we hope to directly benefit the region's economy.

The parent company of Graduates Yorkshire is Yorkshire Universities, the regional higher education association for Yorkshire and the Humber.

YU provide a forum for the 11 Universities and 3 Higher Education Colleges in the Yorkshire and Humber region to work together, and act as their collective voice in the region. Their activity is focused on the provision of a central service for its members and on the delivery of a range of separately-funded projects.

Our Youtube channel is still up and running. There are three of us running the channel, Tom Harrison, Rory Martinez,Matt Burton and now the addition of Rob Blake.

So far it has been amazing already winning youtube awards and getting quite a lot of views on the videos. We are going to continue to upload high speed videos to keep the subscriptions coming and to keep our views up.

We have now gained partnership with Youtube as we planned and need to continue to produce videos to keep up our popularity.

Narrative using Slow Motion

Good Boy.

INT. A SHOP – DAY.

A young BOY is standing in the pharmacy isle of a brightly lit shop, looking around nervously. He slips a few packets of condoms into his pocket, and begins walking quickly towards the exit. We hear a shop assistant start to shout in the distance, and he begins to run. A SECURITY GUARD cuts him off at the door, but the boy dodges him and smashes through a large sheet glass window. The footage slows down as the glass sprays into the street, and a soundtrack of rising heart-beats begins. The young boy runs as fast as he can with the security guard in pursuit. He knocks past an OLD LADY as he turns into a fruit and veg market. A STALL OWNER sees the boy bash into his display, and grapples unsuccessfully with oranges and other fruit as they spill onto the floor. The security guard and the stall owner chase the boy as he flies over a busy junction, knocking coffee out of the hands of a passing BUSINESS WOMAN. A POLICEMAN sees the chase out of his car window. All three chase the boy as he scrambles over a wall, through some bushes and onto a railway track. He dives in front of an oncoming train, and the pursuers are left standing non-plussed on the other side of the tracks. The footage begins to speed up again as his heart rate slows. The boy pushes through some more bushes, ducks under a motorway overpass, and through a shortcut littered with rubbish and graffiti. He lowers himself from a wall, and drops down into a shabby industrial estate. He approaches a haggard looking young woman, who sits on a crate in a very short skirt.

MOTHER
You get ‘em?

BOY
Yeah, mum.

He chucks the packets to her.

MOTHER
(Muttering)
Good boy.

Penny Chew.

INT. A SHOP – DAY.

A young GIRL of around six or seven puts a penny chew in her pocket, and begins to run mischievously out of the shop. The SHOPKEEPER and the girl’s MOTHER shout in concern as the footage slows down. The girl bashes into a MAN on the pavement who drops his heavy shopping bags. She knocks an ice cream out of an older BOY’s hand. She trips a BALLOON SELLER who falls over backwards and lets go of his bunch.

The young girl rushes into the road and is obscured by a speeding car. Her mother and the shopkeeper stand distraught and speechless. We see a close up as the car pulls away and the little girl giggles on the other side of the road, chewing her sweet.

The Dogs.

EXT. OUTSIDE THE DESERTED FACTORY – DAY.

A YOUNG GIRL stands examining the entrance to a deserted building. She is filthy and dishevelled. From inside the building we can hear the sound of vicious barking and yelps. The girl looks cautious but determined. The girl enters the broken door of the building.

INT FLASHBACK. THE SHACK – NIGHT.

The young GIRL cowers with her MOTHER in a simple wooden shack as the FATHER stands at the door, fighting to close it. We hear savage barking. As he closes the door he leans his forehead against it.

FATHER
Those dogs. Something needs to be done.
Blow them all to hell.

INT. INSIDE THE DESERTED FACTORY – DAY.

Light shines through filthy and broken windows as the GIRL tiptoes through the corridors. The barking and whining grows louder and fainter. She rounds corner after corner, going deeper into the building. Suddenly the sounds fade, and the girl stands rooted to the spot, terrified. The footage slows down as the pack of wild DOGS round the corner. She runs as fast as she can, with the pack snapping at her heels. The girl skids through the disintegrating corridors, blindly running as fast as she can. She comes to a metal industrial ladder, which leads up to a walkway above. She scrambles up just in time, while the pack of dogs pace and bark at the bottom.

INT FLASHBACK. THE SHACK – DAY.

The GIRL stands with her MOTHER at the window, as they look out the window. We see their P.O.V. – Slow footage of the father running through the fields towards their shack, with the wild DOGS at his heels. The mother puts her hand over the girl’s eyes as they catch up with him.

The mother clenches her jaw as she put on her coat.

GIRL
Where are you going?

MOTHER
To make us safe. The building where they live – It was a munitions factory in the old days. Perhaps if I can get in...

She gathers the girl to her in a tight embrace.

MOTHER
Then you’ll be safe.

INT. THE FACTORY – NIGHT.

The GIRL climbs down the ladder slowly and carefully, trying not to wake the pack of sleeping DOGS. As she reaches the lowest rungs, however, her foot slips and she has to start running as the dogs jump up, alert. We follow another slow-speed chase through the interior of the munitions factory, the dogs breath steaming in the cold air and the girl skidding on broken glass as she whips round corners. Finally she comes to an old door on which some writing is just discernable – ‘Munitions store’. She struggles with the heavy, rusted hinges, and manages to slam the door shut just in time.

INT FLASHBACK. THE SHACK – DAY.

The GIRL sits in the corner with her hands over her ears as we hear a woman scream, and the sound of dogs fighting over food.

INT. INSIDE THE MUNITIONS STORE – NIGHT.

The GIRL stands breathing heavily. She walks out of frame with a purposeful stride.

INT. OUTSIDE THE MUNITIONS STORE- NIGHT.

The DOGS stand quietly, panting heavily.

EXT. OUTSIDE THE SHACK – NIGHT.

We see the simple shack and the big factory building in the distance. The wooden planks of the dwelling shake and fall as the building erupts with a violent explosion.

The Wallet.

INT. A CROWDED BUS – DAY.

A young BOY stands on a swaying bus, picking the pocket of a wealthy-looking businessman. The man notices and tries to catch his arm, but the boy wriggles free and barges past the other passengers.

EXT. A ROAD – DAY.

The footage slows down as the boy jumps from the moving vehicle. He runs down a crowded high street, knocking pedestrians in his rush. He runs through a department store, clipping a large stand of coloured sweets that spills onto the floor behind him. He exits the store on the other side, and knocks into a man carrying wholesale food crates, which tumble from his grip.

EXT. AN ALLEY – DAY.

The footage slows down as the boy enters a quiet back-street alley, and realises he is safe and alone. Looking around furtively he hides behind a wheelie bin and takes out the wallet. He stuffs a five pound note and some change in his pocket before a piece of paper catches his eye. He opens a letter, which reads ‘Dear Simon, I know it has been so many years since we spoke, but I realised that no matter how angry I am you deserved to hear how your son is doing…’

We see a close up of the boys eyes as he unfolds the paper to read more, and comes across a photograph folded inside. It is a photo of himself.

Meeting with ANthony Bagley

We have had a meeting with Anthony Bagley who is a data wrangler from such dramas as Red Riding and Wallander. We talked about how best to market yourselves as well as who to talk to and the way in which to meet people. It was very help full and we gained much insight in the industry and the way n which it was run. We came away with a better understanding of the work ethic that we need to have and the sheer luck in which we could be noticed or spotted in the right place at the right time.

He also told us that we would really need to have a meeting with Nicky Ball or Tony Dixon down at Screen Yorkshire who would help us to develop our plans further.

Creative Networks!!

Creative Networks is an exciting and popular peer-to-peer networking event that aims to bring together the many professional practices that make up the sector - film, graphics, animation, fashion, textiles, music, performance - to name but a few.

As the most well attended event of its kind, Creative Networks has been established to nurture creative talent from across the region, and to foster partnerships and collaboration.

With a mixture of high profile speakers from the worlds of the creative, digital, and cultural industry sectors, these events provide the opportunity to rub shoulders with the movers and shakers across the Yorkshire and Humber regions.

Events are held on the last Thursday of each month at the Leeds College of Art & Design in conjunction with partners; the Elsie Whitely Innovation Centre and the West Yorkshire Lifelong Learning Network.

We have signed up to creative networks as Brown Bread and will be receiving updates on networking opportunities. We feel that this is a great way to gain contacts and potential clients as well as possibly colleagues who are in the same situation that we are. We feel that attending these events will help to raise our profile by getting our faces out there and being polite to everybody we meet.

Vivian Westwood Collection Fashion Shoot

We were employed to light and shoot a Personal Collection of Vivienne Westwood Shoes video for an exhibition .

The Get in is on this Fri 3pm-6pm - Shoot 7pm till 10pm / Sat 8am Till 9pm / Sun 8am - 10pm.

The elements of the video are based in the ideas of beauty, art, fun, fantasy, drama, obsession, and shoes. Set in a warehouse where human mannequins come to life.

We shot it at Studio 81, Kirkstall Road, Leeds LS3 1LH, the studio was really large and was great to go down there and meet the people who manage the space.

The best thing about taking the job on was to meet new creative people in the industry and getting there information for the future. The shoot was also sponsored by Pro Vision so it was amazing to meet some more of the guys that work there. This also gave us the opportunity to learn how to use equipment that we hadn't use before, like 4K lights, Butterfly frames and different track and dollies.

FASHION_TEST_SHOOT_PPD

These are some stills from a shoot we did in the photography infinity curve. We wanted to practice and develop our skills in lighting, by using different photography lighting. The idea was to shoot a girl next door style model in a weird little world. We built the set ourselves and we were very pleased with it, the whole shoot only cost us (as a collective) around £100. We used many different cinematic techniques to create the over look we wanted, it was a great shoot and everyone had fun.

DeLorean Drivers Music Video.

Here are some screen grabs from the music video. We are really pleased with the video as it was a huge challenge for use. BUT.... we feel that we wouldn't what to take such a heavy after effects project on without planning how much time we would have to invest. The band and management were extremely pleased with the video, the manager also said he has more work lined up for the future. The screen grabs are of the music video without grade.

Phaze 2 MUSIC VIDEO IDEAS

We produced an edit for a meeting with Phaze two to show the guys what we have in mind for there shoot. We cannot post it up as the track is there 'FRIDAY FEELING'. This we felt was a great way to interact with our client and to show them some progressive research.

http://www.the-mill.com/

The mill is one of the leading post production houses in the world. they do incredible ads with phenomenal graphics. we'd love to be at this standard, they flawlessly implement immaculate CG with brilliant camera work and exciting concepts. it is important we start to build relationships with cg artists event hough our speciality is going to be film and commercial, SFX are always going to be integrative to delivering modern cutting edge work.

PHAZE 2 MUSIC VIDEO LOCATION

We went to view the club location for a scene in the music video, we felt that the club looked wright for the tone of the video. We really liked the light wall we felt that is suited the song and feel of the film. We had a meeting with the manager of the club and he was really keen in the project, he said we could shoot for free on a Wednesday or Thursday.

PHAZE 2 MUSIC VIDEO BROWN BREAD FILMS

We have been approached to produce a music video for a new rap/r&b called Phaze 2. The initial meeting with the guys went well and we created some great ideas between us. We have organised a meeting with a club manager in town to see if it would suit teh video. One of the main reasons that we feel that we should take this project on, is that we really believe that the song could do extremely well in the charts. Both guys in the group are hard working and passionate about what there doing.

http://www.moonwalk-films.com/

really amazing production house. some superb directors and cinematographers working here, particularly like NEZ -

http://www.moonwalk-films.com/director/nez/

love this video for kid Cudi by him.

superb cinematography, amazing locations - you'd never ever find these in the UK!
brilliant stuff. really imaginative editing - even though it's so simple, it develops rules then breaks them perfectly.

http://www.limehouse.tv/index.html

Limehouse is a film production agency working out of Halifax's Elsie Whiteley Centre. we had the pleasure of meeting Avram Buchanen from the company this evening. they have a very crisp corporate website, and some impressive directors and camera men on their books. They are working on a level we aspire to be, though perhaps we'd like to be more hands on, at least for now. and move into a more agency-like delegating system later.

DANIELS - "Swingers"

Swingers from Daniel Scheinert on Vimeo.

another one from daniels. a humourous little short. quite out there stuff. these guys are great with the effects, but it seems a little like there is a deeper edge to these videos missing, that said this was probably quite a quick little project and in that it;s very good.

Daniels - "underwear"

Underwear by FM Belfast (Music Video) from Daniel Scheinert on Vimeo.

interesting video, some interesting use of effects, i can't work out how they've done the leg wobble thing - magnify tool in AE? though how does the background stay right? quick sharp editing, and a great use of performers that are not typical half naked MTV blondes. an intelligent music video.

Other Edit Jonsi 59 Productions

59 Production Jonsi Film

The making of Jónsi's live show: Part 1 from Jónsi on Vimeo.

This is the final film from the shoot with 59 productions. Pretty pleased with the way it turned out.

Stills From Video.

These are some stills from the video. Is going ok the edit is a little frustrating as there are so many clips to go through and render out. Its coming together though. We feel that the shots of the box look extremely like the pictures from the presentation that the band presented us in the initial meeting, so we feel proud about that. The one thing that could have made it a lot better, would have been to use strong LED lights at the back of the box. Therefore we could have casted more light at the front of the box making the white boarders lighter.

Bradford International Film Festival 2010

The festival will take place at the National Media Museum and will span 11 days packed full of your favourite strands including Widescreen Weekend, plus premieres and previews. We will be inviting plenty of special guests, so film fans can hear the stories behind their favourite stars and movies through talks and screenings.

I will attending the Bradford International Film Festival 2010. Will be a great way of meeting people, possibly recruiting crew for Rory and myself's new short film we are producing. It will be also a great way of seeing what these cinematographers are producing and to see of what standard they are.

DeLorean Drivers Music Video Shoot.

We shot the video on Sat 6th Feb. It went really well, the band were very well organised by building and painting the box perfectly. We planned the timing of the shot well. It was a new great experience for me as there were nine members in the band and a tight time schedule, we had to produce a really detailed shot list. Here are some pictures from the shoot.
